David comes from backgrounds that drive and inspire him to contribute as a trustee. He’s worked as a qualified practising social worker with a keen sense of social justice, enhanced by what he saw in his work and elsewhere. As a Quaker David has a belief that there is good (we must find) in everyone and everywhere. Combined with the challenges life and the world brings there’s a real need to contribute to positive change.
David is a founding trustee of Restorative Justice in Whanganui. It started when he was involved in Youth Justice (a forerunner to Oranga Tamariki) and the question was asked at a public meeting he was part of facilitating "why can’t there be family group conference type meetings for adult offenders?” That started a journey with a group of others, that continues today as Restorative City Whanganui.
